PM Modi’s Second Day in Gujarat: A Landmark Visit on International Women’s Day, know his schedule for today

Today, on the 8th of March 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat marks its 2nd day alongside International Women’s Day celebrations. This occasion is in sharp terms demonstrating the intent of the government towards the empowerment of women and rural development, largely focusing on the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme.

Special Highlights in PM Modi’s Day

It commences at 11:00 AM from the Surat Circuit House, with PM Modi heading to the Airport. A helicopter will land him in Navsari at 11:30 AM as he attends a special Women’s Day event organized by the Gujarat Rural Development Department to acknowledge the untiring work of women in relation with the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme.

At the event, financial assistance of Rs 450 crore will be provided to over 2.5 lakh women self-help groups (SHGs). The aid will help women in India’s two aspirational districts and 13 talukas, thus giving them the opportunity to have financial self-sufficiency.

Women Police Take Center Stage

The uniqueness of this is that 2,500 women police personnel are deployed for security and management arrangements. In addition to this, it will leave a mark as an exemplary event of leadership and caliber of women in male-dominated jobs. It would appropriately celebrate International Women’s Day as women residents show their capabilities in all fields.

The ‘Lakpati Didi’ Scheme: Financial Empowerment of Women

The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme empowers women to be more financially independent. It encourages women in SHGs to do income generation activities to earn 10,000 and above per month through different sources of income and an annual target of earning 1 lakh or more. This pays tribute to the hard work of the women involved and empowers them to take charge of their lives while giving back to their families and communities.

A Day of Inspiration and Development

The event in Navsari will conclude at 2:00 PM, at which time PM Modi will make his way back to Surat Airport before heading to Delhi at approximately 3:00 PM. This part of the journey will end, along with the government concern for the empowerment of women, with rural development being underlined here.

It is neither a celebration for International Women’s Day nor just another visit; it symbolizes a change for all of those through transformative initiatives like the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme. It sends the message that whole communities prosper when women are empowered.
