AMC reveals that it did not give any notice to demolish the temple
The letter mentions that the fight to save the temple is not finished. On the Mahant’s suicide, his son Brijesh claims that the builder, corporation, and police were harassing him. He has also claimed that the temple has been threatened with demolition this week.
It is allegedly harassed by the last 4-5 years for which Mahendrabhai, the Mahant of Santoshi Mata Temple on Kubernagar Road in Narod area of Ahmedabad, committed suicide today by hanging himself in the temple in the early morning hours.
Mahant’s son made the allegation
The Mahant’s son alleged that he committed suicide under pressure from the corporation, police (Sardarnagar police), and builder to demolish the temple. On the other hand, the AMC has revealed that it has not given any notice to demolish the temple.
They also put up banners and posters in their temple with some sentences written about the demolition of the temple.
The corporation had given a week to demolish the temple due to the construction of new houses. The family members alleged that his suicide was due to pressure from the corporation, police, and builder to demolish the temple. The Mahant has also written a suicide note before committing suicide, in which he has mentioned that he has stood against his relatives for the last four years in the fight to save the temple.
The police have registered an accidental death for now and started an investigation into it. Mahendrabhai, who is the priest of the temple, had also put several banners and posters in his temple with some sentences regarding the demolition of the temple.
